An average American consumes about 23.2 quarts of ice cream each year. July and August are the months with consumption of ice cream being the highest, leaving July as the National Ice Cream month. So why do we Americans love ice cream so much? Is it the creamy texture? The cooling sensation as it passes from your mouth into your throat? Or is it the idea that ice cream is a comfort food?-If you’re having a bad day, turn it around with just a few scoops of ice cream? Ice cream is also a common simple and inexpensive date! And for Utahan’s we just got a new and improved way to have our ice cream! Sub Zero is the newest thing to the ice cream experience!

Sub Zero lets you create our own flavor of ice cream. With add-ins and different cream types, the possibilities are endless! But what makes Sub Zero different than any other ice cream shop is the fact that they make it right there. They make all of it right there, unlike Cold Stone and other ice cream places that already have the ice cream, and things to add to it. Sub Zero has a huge nitrogen tank! They take the flavor, cream, and add-ins of your choice and put the nitrogen on it, freezing the cream. And wah-la! You are left with your dream flavor of ice cream.

The idea of Sub Zero (originating in Provo) was created by a Professor from BYU. We are now lucky enough to have one nearby, right here in Centerville; right next to Tony Burgers. Sub Zero is slowly but surely growing, and is now spreading into Idaho as well as other parts of Utah. And the fan base of Sub Zero is growing as well. Maddie Morris (11) said, “I really liked Sub Zero. I worked at Dairy Queen, so I have the ins and outs of ice cream and this was actually really good. Except the prices tended to take some away, but it was unlike any other ice cream shop. No ice cream out of the pump; just creamy and delicious ice cream!”

Sub Zero is very excited to be here in Centerville, and would love the high school students to come try it out. While talking to an employee, he told me that they will also be serving crepes at lunch, and would love for students to stop by. The ice cream is great, and the possibilities are endless!

I don't know. There is something about seeing your flavoring getting squirt into cream, then being frozen into your dessert, that doesn't appeal to me. I like to think my ice cream was made from real flavors (even if they aren't), not witness a squirt from a pre-packaged flavor bottle. It's a little pricey too

Sub Zero is unlike any ice cream experience I've had and surpasses Cold Stones unique hand needed Ice Cream and one of my favorites Yogurt Stops refreshing atmosphere and self serve yogurt by far! My favorite is 1/3 pistachio 2/3 cake batter with a sweet mix in of their fresh cookie doe. I highly recommend it if you don't know what you're ordering yet.
