Ice cream freshness. It’s probably not in your top ten food safety worries, but according to the FDA, it matters. Sub Zero is here for you with the freshest ice cream.
What Are the Dangers?
Over the last few years, there have been occasional news stories about commercial ice cream contaminated with Listeria and Salmonella. It was enough to prompt an FDA investigation. “The FDA began the assignment on August 1, 2016, following 16 recalls of ice cream products due to the presence of pathogens in the prior three years, and an outbreak of listeriosis linked to an ice cream maker in 2015 that involved three deaths.”1 Even though it doesn’t always result in death, listeriosis is serious, particularly for pregnant women because it can cause stillbirths.
