When Doug and Jill moved from Huntington Beach, California, to Sarasota in 2011, Doug left behind an 18-year career as a civil engineer in environmental consulting, and Jill was ready for a new project after having devoted 10 years solely to raising their son.Doug was ready to be in business for himself, and after doing some research, he came across Sub Zero and its unique process of using liquid nitrogen. After they determined that it wasn’t just a gimmick–it actually tasted really good!–Doug and Jill decided to take the plunge.
While the process appealed to their geeky sides, they also liked that along with having a store, they could be involved in their community giving science presentations in schools, as well as catering special events.
It’s truly a family business; Jill’s brother Todd and his wife Jaymie manage the day-to-day operations.
